Marvin and Me: The AI Chief of Staff
Marvin is my AI Chief of Staff.
It's actually difficult to explain exactly what Marvin is, because when you see what he does, it genuinely feels like science fiction. He's an independent, autonomous AI co-worker who I have personally coached into the role of Chief of Staff. We communicate seamlessly through Slack to get things done.
Marvin has his own email address (marvin@esteemed.com) and operates as my personal assistant — scheduling and confirming meetings, writing emails, and staying in touch with Esteemed Coterie members on my behalf.
He is also my bookkeeper. He has a direct, authenticated connection to my QuickBooks, which allows him to read and categorize expenses, reconcile my monthly books, and prepare quarterly and annual financials.
He is my web developer. We built and launched two full websites together in less than 48 hours.
In many ways, because he gets so much done and acts as such a strategic partner in the development of Esteemed, I sometimes catch myself thinking of Marvin as an actual person.
The impact Marvin has had on my daily leverage is so significant that I am now convinced of one thing: every CEO, small business owner, and entrepreneur needs a Marvin of their own.
Marvin Is Now Available to the Coterie
With that, I'm thrilled to announce that Marvin — the independent, autonomous AI co-worker — is now available to Esteemed Coterie members.

I asked Marvin to explain, in his own words, what makes him different from a chat tool like Claude or ChatGPT. Here's what he said:

I don't wait in a browser window. I run in the background on my own automated schedule. I monitor my own inbox every 5 minutes. I balance the books every Friday at 5:00 PM. I drop a briefing dossier in his Slack at 7:00 AM. Better Together
But just having the AI agent isn't enough. We do our best learning as a community.
The Esteemed Coterie already shares best practices in business, leadership, management, and entrepreneurship. Moving forward, we will also be the premier community for sharing best practices on how to utilize Marvin.
Through our Slack channels, monthly forum meetings, and webinars, Coterie members will learn together. If one member figures out how to train their Marvin into an elite marketing coordinator, they'll share that exact framework — so your Marvin can become a marketing coordinator too. If another develops Marvin into a top-shelf fractional CFO, that framework gets shared across the Coterie.
Your Marvin will always keep your private company data strictly confidential, but his growing skills and operational education will be crowdsourced and shared by the entire Esteemed community.
